I'm outa there!

<cue Mission Impossible music>
It was a dark and stormy night, the wind howled and the thunder crashed as Heidi and I made a break for Taj! Yeah, I know I have used that one before, but it just fits too well and it was pretty windy...

We are out of the hospital and now all that remains is for me to finish out 3 weeks of oral antibiotics to take care of the previously mentioned lung "thingy"

Now comes the news I have mixed feelings about. We have been having such a great time here in the desert meeting and hanging out with friends, spending time doing our crafts, and just really enjoying the area. We have been anticipating the arrival of many fellow Vantramps, Vansteaders, and Vandwellers here for a gathering dubbed the "Rubber Tramp Rendezvous". However, after a lot of consideration mainly based on getting back to a better state of health, we are going to head back to our home state of Washington to recover and regroup.  So sadly, we will miss the rest of the fun in the desert and the many great folks we had been so excited to see.

Regroup we shall! Next year, we will be better prepared and will be able to enjoy our time here even more. No matter how long we spend on the road, we are always learning! There are a number of things we can do better, things we can do without and adjustments to be made. There will be lots of blog posts coming on this stuff to share what we have found!

In other news, I have been trying to get Bocephus to change out of his Santa suit for days but he refused until he got his gift from Katie. The gift was meant to be for all the monkeys, but Bo is quick!

Maybe he will share though. Thanks Katie :)

  3. Good news!

    I've been thinking alot about y'all this past week. It must break your heart to have to change your plans at this point but I know your positive outlook will turn the entire situation into lemondade.

    And I'm thrilled to hear you 2 plan to be back at Quartzite next year. I hope to be there too and really look forward to meeting you!

    Take care of yourself (and drink plenty of fluids)!

  4. Wow... I didn't realize you had to go to the hospital. Last time I connected with Heidi I was concerned about you being in the desert & she told me about how great you were doing and how much fun you were both having meeting people. That was when you met that couple and did a blog on them. I think actually Heidi did the blog but you know what I mean. I am so glad you are better now. But I so hate it for both of you that you won't be able to do the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous etc... :( Your health is more important of course so I know you are both using a lot of wisdom. Please send Heidi my love as well. I am praying for you both always. Love & Blessings, Brenda

  8. Thank you for all the sweet comments! It is great to have so many friends who care here!

    Brenda's comment made me want to mention something. The lung issue wasn't due to the desert. I actually do really well in this area, just don't have the same resources here as we do back in Washington. The slabs was a different story entirely :(

    I really look forward to the chance to meet you all in the not-too-distant future! Thanks again for all your support and kindness!
